Course equipment

Our advice with regard to equipment is always not to purchase any equipment but to borrow as much as you can for your first course after which you will know two things.


  1. If you are suited to this form of adventure.
  2. Your person specific needs.

 

The following is a basic kit list, which you will need for all courses and your own adventures.

 

  1. Well-worn site safety boots or hill walking boots with high ankle supports. 
  2. Four pairs of wool socks. 
  3. Backpack min 70 litres. 
  4. Woolly hat. 
  5. Two Woolly jumpers  or fleeces. 
  6. Trousers military combats are very good if surplus or guanine army kit two pair. 
  7. Under ware spare change. 
  8. Small first aid kit with any personal meds included.
  9. Head touch. Spare batteries. 
  10. Two candles. 
  11. Notebook and pencil/pen A6 is a good size. 
  12. Water bottle.
  13. Towel and toilet bag.
  14. Plastic mug, plate and bowl, knife fork and spoon. (Remember that plastic does not conduct heat well and you are less lightly to burn your lips and fingers as easily as you would with metal eating equipment).
  15. Sleeping bag four seasons.
  16. Therm a rest half mat mattress.
  17. Tent or Basha Tarp Shelter.
  18. Special food requirements.
  19. Cook ware, either Trangia set or other and fuel.
  20. Wet weather coat or jacket  and a poncho.

                                 

Note that we will supply you with Survival Knives, saws and axes. It is important not to buy a fixed blade knife until you have finish your first course. However we recommend you purchase a Leatherman multitool either the Super tool or Surge
